Holiday Cooking Tips

If you’ve spent any time around Royers, you know that just as much as we love to cook, we love to host cooking classes. It’s magical having all of the wonderful souls around tables, and we want to help others, make the most of their time around their own tables too!

We love the holidays! Our first cooking class was actually for Thanksgiving! And, if you’ve attended any of our classes, you’ll likely realize that most all of them are based around preparation…the REAL SECRET INGREDIENT to successful meals and Holiday gatherings.

Here is a list of things that could be helpful while you prepare dinner for your family this Holiday season:

1. Make a LIST. Be intentional.
2. Go to the grocery store earlier in the week! Give yourself extra time and don’t wait until the last minute when everyone else is there to shop! This cuts down on stress!
3. Buy precut veggies. Especially small veggies, spices and herbs.
4. Cut the other veggies ahead of time, and have them ready.
5. Don’t be afraid to make your sides, sauces and gravy’s ahead of time. *Pro Tip
(Cuts down on oven and stove space, as well as dishes!)
6. Clean up after yourself as you go! Cuts down on all you have to do at the end of the meal! (A good way to get others involved too)
7. Thaw your turkey! Give plenty of time for this!
8. Season meat ahead of time so it’s ready to go straight into the oven!
9. Ask family and friends to bring a side or two! That way you aren’t doing all of it.
10. Bake pies ahead of time and store them in the fridge or freezer.
11. Buy premade cornbread/bread crumbs. Saves a step and doesn’t compromise the integrity of the dish.
12. Buy pies and sides from us at the cafe!! Let us do the cooking for you!
13. Don’t forget to relax and enjoy your family and friends! That’s the most important thing!
