You're in Round Top, Texas, and you're hungry...

What do you need?

Food from Royers Round Top Cafe, of course! As one of the best Texas restaurants offering gourmet comfort food, might we recommend our finger-lickin’ Funky Chicken dinner followed up with a slice of Junkberry pie topped with a great big helpin' of vanilla ice cream? Or, you could just live by our motto and say "LTS" (Life's too short) and start with dessert first...after all, we do have the best pie in Texas! The choice is all yours, ladies and gents! Either way, feel free to check out our mouth-watering menu to see what’s ticklin’ your taste buds.

Once you're all filled up on our delectable eats and sweets from Royers Cafe, it's time to explore our neck of the woods here in Round Top, TX! We're home to some of the best small businesses and mom & pop shops you'll find in Texas, and we're beaming with pride for each and every last one of 'em.

Here's everywhere you need to stop, shop, and see when you find yourself near Round Top, the tiny Texas town with big southern hospitality.

WHERE TO SHOP IN ROUND TOP

First stop, Henkel Square Market.

You'll find some of the most unique shopping and dining experiences in Henkel's Market. This historic square, surrounded by beautiful historic German homes, has been reborn as a perfect spot to soak in your surroundings with craft food, rotating artisans, and Texas-grown produce - it sure doesn't get much better than that!

If antiques brought you to these parts, we wouldn't be a tad bit surprised. After all, most folks know us best for our bi-annual Round Top Antique Show held downtown every spring & fall. That’s why Round Top Antiques should make its way to the top of your must-see list for all things antiques. This quaint vintage shop is ideal for folks that love browsing through old treasures and vintage goods for hours on end. You'll find everything here from barware to vintage jewelry, clothing, and plenty of other one-of-a-kind treasures.

Round Top Emporium is another one of the top spots in town for antique trinkets and more - like specialty furniture, china dishes from way back when, and perfectly-aged glassware with dinner parties galore written all over it. Oh, and if you're a fan of old books, this shop is a vintage book lover's dream.

Are you big on collecting? Stop in and see our friends over at Townsend Provisions for everything “Vintage Americana!” They sell locally sourced and quirky items like handmade onesies that say "Hey y'all!" and charmin' home decor that just oozes with all things cozy. We betcha won’t be able to leave empty-handed.

FUN FACT: Did you know Round Top Texas was originally known as "Townsend?”

Last but not least, we're rounding out our list of must-see Round Top shops with none other than Junk Gypsy! If the name sounds oddly familiar, that's because this small town U.S.A. shop hit it big time with a show on HGTV called "Junk Gypsies." They're famous for their impressive selection of beautiful cowboy boots and colorful home decor. Just don't forget to get a whiff of their handmade soap while you're there. They smell utterly divine!

THINGS TO DO IN ROUND TOP

After you’ve called it quits on the shopping leg of your town tour, pop on over to the Round Top General Store. There are so many unique items on their shelves to choose from, from their homemade honey sticks and peppermint candies to cowboy hats and bandanas. Nothing says you visited Texas like a good cowboy hat souvenir, right?

The Winedale Historical Center is located right off Highway 290 and has something for every one like local art exhibits, historical home tours, whimsical gardens, a working farmstead with livestock, and even an apple orchard. If that's not a bunch of fun all in one place, we're not sure what is.

Last but certainly not least, head on over to see our next-door neighbors at The Humble Donkey! There you’ll find Lonestar Texas art produced by owner and local artist John Lowery. Every time somebody buys a piece of art, the occasion is celebrated by the enthusiastic ringing of a cowbell (often by the artist himself) accompanied by shouts of “A Donkey Got Its Wings!” This brief, quirky ceremony serves to thank the patron and give a fitting send-off to one of John’s creations which will be traveling to its new home. Nothin’ beats the good ol’ Humble Donkey tradition.

THAT’S A WRAP

Alright, that's all she wrote, folks! We’ve covered your must-see, must-stops, and must-do’s here in Round Top, Texas. From top-notch eateries to antique stores your vintage heart longs for, what’s not to love about this Texas gem just west of Houston? Now, make your way to town here soon and kick off your visit with a drool-worthy meal at Royers Cafe, ya hear?
